A Handbook on Human Resource Management

$6

The greatest asset of any organization, private or public, is its human resources. It is also its most enduring, competitive edge.

Every company is a reflection of its owner or owners. If a company is entrepreneurial, innovative, and humane, it is because those virtues are the dominant characteristics of its owner or owners. If the company is floppy, inefficient or lacks integrity, the root cause or causes may be traced directly to the personalities and characters of its ownership. That’s why the quality of human resource management means life and death in every organization.

Although the transformation of an organization, particularly a business, usually begins from the top, the actually implementation of most strategies related to administrative functions rest with the Human Resource Department, which in most organizations is usually a midlevel management or leadership position. That said, the emerging practice in progressive organizations is the involvement of every manager regardless of position contract or authority level in human resource management.

In this new practice, human resource management is moved from being a dedicated HR function, to that of every manager. The rationale behind this novel HR practice is the understanding that every manager significantly influences the productivity and performance of those under them. So how they relate with their team is a substantial human resource issue, and has a direct impact on the overall welfare and wellbeing of the company.

This handbook is an experiential guide and training material. Everyone, I mean, every professional needs to read it. Every business owner needs to understand the implications of its message, and make a committed decision to put its lessons into practice.
