Dare to Win

Consider this fact.  Throughout history, all the extraordinary accomplishments in human evolution from farming to landing on the moon, without an exception, were as a result of someone imaging new ways of doing things, or making what seemed impossible possible.  Such uncommon feats include, the incandescent light, the airplane, first man on the moon, the printing press, the telephone, the photograph, the vaccines, and the internet.  Before any of these historic accomplishments became a reality, someone first fantasized, then theorized, and finally took a step of faith– relying on principles and not precedents. And miracle happened.  Miracles do happen when we believe in ourselves, and when we find strong enough reasons to align our beliefs and our behavior.

Today, we know for sure that whatever the mind can imagine and the heart believes, can be achieved.  This assertion applies to any mind and any heart.  Do you belief that?  Whatever is your answer, be assured that you are not alone.  Both sides of the divide are populated by millions of adherents and promoters.  For instance, there are billions of people who believe that dreams and opportunities are universal, but there are equally billions who swear that the universe is skewed against some people; that opportunities are limited in some places. It turns out that our beliefs shape our expectations in life and in business. Beliefs, in fact, are the fountains of our attitude, and our expectations. That is why life is often said to be a self fulfilling prophecy. In that light, all of us are self made, but only the rich and famous accept this fact because it feeds their ego.

OPPORTUNITIES ABOUND EVERYWHERE

Nature is a magnificent display of prosperity and abundance.  Nature is meant to serve us, all of us and not some of us.  The activation of this service, however, is a personal choice. It doesn’t come by chance except, perhaps, once in a life time.

I am one of those who believe that we are limited only by weakness of attention and poverty of imagination.  There are infinite opportunities to live an unforgettable life.  For instance, you can definitely make a difference in someone’s life.  You can be a force for good in your community, in your state, in your country; and who says the whole world cannot be your oyster, your stage. You can change the course of history.  That is what President J.F. Kennedy did when he launched America’s MOONSHOT in 1959. He said:

“We set sail on this new sea because there is new knowledge to be gained, and new rights to be won, and they must be won and used for the progress of all people……

We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win, and the others, too.”

EMBRASE THE “MOONSHOT” MINDSET

Moon shot has since become a way of thinking, and a way of accomplishing extraordinary feats. It is a deliberate decision to do a new thing in a radically different way.  It’s about instigating a breakthrough performance – an explosive jump across an abyss.  A moon shot demands that you show courage of your convictions. Albert Einstein had these facts in mind when he warned that, “The significant problems we face today cannot be solved by the same level of thinking we were when we created them.”  Moon shots demand higher-order thinking skills.  It commands that we act in the certain way. It compels us to organize by a clear vision of the future, not by the memories of the past.

If you cannot stage a moon shot at this time, at least, you can stage a paradigm shift in the way you perceive and experience the world.  That is well within your reach and it requires no external permission or resources.  It’s entirely a journey within which has the capacity to fuel an explosive jump without.

LEVERAGE

Life grows by sharing.  It’s a law of the universe.  Everyone intuitively knows it or senses it, but only champions leverage this powerful principle.  As James Allen rightly observed, “Nature gives all without reservation, and loses nothing; man grasping all loses everything”   No one has ever achieved anything of significance all by himself or herself.  The popular cliché, no one is an island remains relevant.
